Juventus, a two-time winner of the European championship and three-time winner of the UEFA Cup, finished seventh in Italy's Serie A last season but continued to rebuild in an effort to rejoin Europe's elite.
Juve signed Alberto Aquilani on loan from Liverpool, and signed Serbian winger Milos Krasic. City also continued to sign talent in the offseason, spending nearly $200 million. City signings include Mario Balotelli, Jerome Boateng, David Silva, Yaya Toure and Aleksandar Kolarov.
Austria's Red Bull Salzburg and Poland's Lech Poznan are also in Group A.
Atletico Madrid and Leverkusen are joined by Norway's Rosenborg and Greece's Aris Thessaloniki in Group B.
Five-time Champions League winner Liverpool was put into Group K along with Italy's Napoli, the Netherlands' Utrecht and Romania's Steau Bucharest.
